15 September 2017Charity status granted!
On 15th September 2017 Moray Carshare was officially granted charitable status as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO). This is a major step forward for us:
- It clearly enshrines our purpose of being for public benefit and the protection of our enviroment
- It also procides us with limited liability, so members are not personally liable
- An added benefit is that, as a charity, we will no longer have to pay corporation tax, and thus helps keep the prices of our services at an affordable level.
- Finally becoming a charity makes it us more eligible for certain kinds of grants and thus opens the way for providing other services in addition to car sharing.
15 August 2017Organisations can now also join us
After negotaitaing a specila deal with our insurance company, Moray Carshare is now able to offer "Organisational Membership" to organisations. At the moment this offer is restricted to local, not-for-profit organisations - e.g. charities, clubs, associations and community interest companies.
Under this scheme, an organisation can nominate a number of its staff to use our cars. They will go through the same induction procedure as private members, but all bills will be sent to the organisation.
Organisations pay according to a different charging scheme from individuals, as fully explained under the "Join Us" menu.
Three local organisations have already signed up to the scheme.
